A man was in the emergency room lobby, called 911 and asked for an ambulance to take him to another hospital on Sept. 2, according to Tallahassee Police.

Vanderick Williams, 45, was at a Tallahassee hospital at about 1:15 a.m. when staff told an officer in the emergency room he was being disruptive. The officer asked Williams to calm down and stop disrupting other patients, according to court records. Williams was argumentative but agreed to stop.

About 35 minutes later, a nurse told the officer at the ER someone had called 911 and would not identify himself but said he needed a ride to another hospital.

Another officer arrived at the hospital and made contact with Williams. Williams told the officer he called 911 because he "needed an ambulance" while in the lobby, according to TPD. While being arrested and placed in the patrol car, Williams told the officer he only called 911 once and "needed a ride."

Williams was arrested Friday on charges of misusing 911. Bond was set at $500.
