Brendon, who was supposed to be a two-day headliner at this weekend's ALT*Con pop culture festival at the Leon County Fairgrounds, was charged with damage to property and criminal mischief. He was released on Saturday afternoon and is scheduled to be in court March 30.

Brendon, in an exclusive interview with the Tallahassee Democrat, characterized the incident as a "blackout" after taking nine sleeping pills.

He said he has been dealing with depression off and on and "I stopped taking my meds a while ago, which was a mistake," Brendon said. "It culminated yesterday with my taking some sleeping pills and then going into a blackout."

He was arrested last month in Fort Lauderdale on similar charges after he damaged a hotel room there. He said he would seek help after a similar October arrest in an Idaho hotel.

According to court records, Brendon damaged and turned over furniture and had flipped the bed in the Hotel Duval room he was staying in.

Records say he also smashed a porcelain figurine, pulled the phone out of the wall and clogged the toilet, spilling water out onto the room's carpet.

A bottle of prescription medication found by police that had been filled Friday with 10 pills had only one remaining.

The Tallahassee Police Department was called to the hotel after reports Brendon wanted to file a report about a missing wallet and phone. TPD officers said Brendon in a "state of confusion," when they made contact with the actor.

Hotel Duval managers estimated the damage between $200 and $1,000 and told Tallahassee Police investigators the actor had been taking pills and drinking alcohol throughout the day.

Around 8:45 p.m. Friday, other hotel guests reported that Brendon was sleeping on the floor in front of his room and that he had tried to enter another guest's room.

Brendon said he will continue to seek the help of his doctor and spend all day Sunday at the ALT*Con event meeting with fans.

"These events kind of give me help and I love meeting my fans," he said. "So, it's kind of like the refuge outside of my head."

Brendon appeared on the television shows "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" from 1996 to 2003 and "Kitchen Confidential" in 2006. Most recently he has appeared in the CBS show "Criminal Minds" from 2007 to 2014.
